Five new fillies and seven foster mares in foal
The breeding season has come to an end. Time to look back. First of all, this year brought us five very interesting fillies. Two of them are from our own breeding program, both by the same dam and also happen to be born in the same night. The appealing Agolina Z (picture) is a filly by Aganix du Seigneur and has been produced through embryo transfer at the international sport mare Sterrehof’s Centolina (s. Cento). Centolina herself gave birth to Next Lina, an offspring by the stallion Eldorado van de Zeshoek.
Related to Calimero
In addition to these two, three fillies have been purchased. Together with the Houtzager-Kayser Stable we have acquired Noah W (breeder Benny Wezenberg) during the Borculo JST Foal Auction. This daughter by the Grand Prix stallion Quabri de l’Isle is on the dam’s side clearly related to Sterrehof’s Calimero, as her dam Benthe W is a three-quarter sister to our top gelding. Also genetically interesting is Sublime Prinseveld DSC (breeder Stal Prinseveld), acquired at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. She was bred out of the same dam as Chapeau TN (s. Clearway). And with Lavallino ter Klomp (s. Clearway) as her father she is a three-quarter sister to this talented KWPN approved stallion. We could also welcome a new offspring from the mare Desca (s. Numero Uno) on our studfarm. This breeding product from Gait Kouwen is a daughter by Quabri de l’Isle and a half-sister to the promising Ivo-c and Joint (both by Sterrehof’s Opium), who we both have under the saddle.
Embryos by Cayetano Z
Particularly interesting this year was the fact that we have used Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z for the first time in our own breeding program. The top stallion of Julia Houtzager will produce his first offspring in 2019, and not of the least mares. The combination of Cayetano with Sterrehof’s Ushi (2x), Sterrehof’s Felisimo (2x) and Sterrehof’s Centolina gave us five pregnant foster mares via embryo transfer. In addition, a surrogate mother is in foal by the combination Quabri de l’Isle and Centolina and last but not least we have a foster mare in foal by the combination Cornet du Lys and Ushi.
In all likelihood, a few of the above mentioned embryos will be offered for auction at short notice. Soon more about this.
