Sterrehof's Opium
(Polydor x Bormio xx)
Memorable moments
After all these years, Sterrehof’s Opium is still our stud’s figurehead. The Westphalian stallion, born in 1996, can boast a long career characterised by willingness to fight, attitude and soundness. His performance at the 2008 Hong Kong Olympic Games was truly a highlight. They had made it to the Dutch selection quite late in the process and surprised everyone by competing for the individual medals right to the last pole, resulting in a magnificent seventh place at the world’s highest level in equestrian sports.
Our KWPN approved stallion continued to make a long career for himself afterwards. From 2009 to 2014, Opium competed at CHIO Aachen six years in a row. At the age of eighteen, he finished fifth in the CHIO Rotterdam Grand Prix. At the start of 2015, nineteen-year-old Opium said goodbye to his audience at Jumping Amsterdam.
