Great Blue and five-year-old Ivo both leave towards the US
KWPN approved Sterrehof’s Great Blue (Plot Blue x Libero H, breeder G. Kouwen) has been sold to a rider in the USA. The seven year old Great Blue has qualified himself up to 1.45m level with Julia Houtzager-Kayser and jumped the last couple of months under the saddle of Roy Weel (picture), rider at the Houtzager-Kayser Stables. This combination was very successful in international Young Horse classes and this year too several times among the prize winners of the CSI2* Zuidwolde (5th and 9th) and the numbers six of the CSI1* Grand Prix of Jumping Schröder Tubbergen.
Castrated
Great Blue had been ridden and trained before by Caroline Müller who realised his international debut. For the benefit of his sports career the son of Plot Blue was castrated in the beginning of this year. As a three year old he had earned his breeding license with the KWPN Studbook, later followed by an approval at the Westphalian Studbook. Several interesting offspring of Great Blue is still present at Sterrehof Stud and also frozen semen.
We wish the new owner and rider lots of success with Sterrehof’s Great Blue!
Talented Ivo
The same we can say to the new rider of Ivo (Opium x Padinus, breeder Mr. Pleijter)! In the slipstream of Great Blue this five-year-old gelding too leaves towards the US, though he will go to another stable. The talented Ivo jumped till now under the saddle of Michael Greeve, who had ridden and capably schooled him up to 1.10m level.
