Sterrehof's Calimero contributes to historic team victory at GCL Super Cup in Prague
Sterrehof’s Calimero and Marc have won the first Global Champions League (GCL) Super Cup thanks to a very strong display of teamwork! Together with compatriot Maikel van der Vleuten and Verdi TN and the Spaniard Eduardo Alvarez Aznar and Rokfeller de Pleville Bois Margot, our combination was part of a powerful trio that was able to seize power during the seasonal apotheosis in Prague.
Their team Madrid in Motion had already qualified themselves convincingly for the final top six after two sparkling performances in the O2 Arena of the Czech capital earlier in the week.
In the very tuff first round of the decisive competition on Sunday, with no less than 6.4 million euros of prize money at stake, Madrid in Motion manoeuvred itself directly into pole position for the second part. Calimero had already left a strong impression all week and came this time with just one jumping fault at the finish line. Thanks to a fantastic clear round by Van der Vleuten and Verdi, the team entered the second round with only 8 penalty points.
A brilliant Calimero
With Valkenswaard United there was in fact at that moment only one other team left for the overall victory. This equally strong team showed themselves again as a tough opponent in the second round, but offered Madrid in Motion some space with two rails down and a time fault after three combinations. Marc immediately seized this opportunity with both hands and jumped with a brilliant Calimero to the so desired round without a jumping fault. Van der Vleuten and Alvarez Aznar produced with their horses a superb continuation of this result, which brought Madrid in Motion the win in this prestigious competition. A result that makes us very proud!
