10 notable moments in the past year
On the eve of 2023, we would like to look back at the past year. We do so through 10 memorable moments, mostly highlights, but also with a single low and one notable moment for us in another way.

Jumping Amsterdam back on the calendar
Three years after the fantastic victory of Marc and Sterrehof’s Dante, Jumping Amsterdam was finally back on the calendar. The top show in our capital that we gladly support ensured again the great atmosphere and beautiful sport that we knew during the pre-corona period!

Dante victorious in Oliva
Marc and Sterrehof’s Dante N.O.P. were at their best in the second week of the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour (MET) in Oliva, Spain. In the final of the so-called Gold 3 Tour, our fifteen-year-old mare peaked and clinched first place after a strong performance in the jump-off.

Cayetano offspring make show debut
The very first offspring of our top stallion Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z made their debut in the competition arena. Our rider Edward van den Bragt jumped several promising rounds with Chapeau S Z and Cover Girl. Four-year-old Chapeau is bred by us out of Sterrehof’s Ushi and his equally old half-sister Cover Girl is out of a mare by Montender.

Dante wins the Wiesbaden Grand Prix
Sterrehof’s Dante and Marc have won the Grand Prix of Wiesbaden and did this in style! An impressively ridden jump-off proved to be the key to success, after which the Dutch national anthem resounded in the beautiful surroundings of the Bieberich Palace.

‘Homebred victory’ at Outdoor Gelderland
A successful edition of Outdoor Gelderland made us proud and enthusiastic as sponsors, owners, breeders and horse sport lovers. As icing on the cake, our six-year-old breeding product Mercurius S won the 1.20m final of the Sterrehof Trophy with Maxime van Andel.

Another filly from Sterrehof’s Ushi
We finished our breeding season with the birth of an appealing filly out of the combination Sterrehof’s Ushi and Balou du Reventon (by Cornet Obolensky). Earlier, we could welcome another very beautiful and genetically closely related filly by Ushi and Comme Il Faut (by Cornet Obolensky).

Sterrehof Stud for sale
After leading Sterrehof Stud for more than fifteen years to many successes in the sport, the time has come for Ivo and Ellen Campagne to start selling their horse business. Although taking a clear step back this will not mean a farewell to the equestrian sport and the support of Stal Houtzager-Kayser.

Offspring Ushi sought after at top auctions
Sterrehof’s Ushi’s offspring proved sought-after once again. At the Flanders Foal & Embryo Auction, an embryo (by Balou du Reventon) was sold for €23,000 and Comme Ci Comm Ca (by Comme Il Faut, picture) for €28,000. At the Zangersheide Quality Auction, Bella Ushi S Z (by Balou du Reventon) came to €32,000 and a in 2022 sold embryo (by Chacco Blue) reached now to €48,000.

Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z passed away
At the age of almost twenty, Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z sadly and unexpectedly passed away. Our beautiful top stallion has been one of Sterrehof’s leading horses for quite some time. He had a glorious career under the saddle of Julia Houtzager-Kayser and after that continued his successes in breeding.

Unique hat-trick in Salzburg
This end-of-year highlight can be seen as three in one! At the Amadeus Horse Indoors, Marc and our horses won all the big classes they competed in. First, there was victory in the Championat for the almost 17-year-old Sterrehof’s Calimero, after that the only eight-year-old Klasse EB won the 2* Grand Prix and, finally a climax followed in the Grand Prix of the city of Salzburg which was won by Sterrehof’s Dante.
