Dante fifth in the Prize of Europe, Calimero strong in the Grand Prix
Together with three Sterrehof cracks Marc had traveled to CHIO Aachen at full strength. Early in the week a highlight could be noted by who else than Sterrehof’s Dante. The mare has been in great form whole year long and also showed this in the prestigious Prize of Europe. Marc and Dante were among the eleven clears in a field of 49 combinations. In the jump-off they realised another flawless round, which resulted in a beautiful fifth place. This result was already Dante’s tenth top-5 position in 2019! The mare by Canturano showed great performances in among others Geesteren, Tubbergen, Villach, Hagen, Hamburg and Paris and did it now on the sacred grounds of the Soers in Aachen.
Calimero impresses
Sterrehof’s Calimero defended the colours of the Netherlands in the Nations Cup competition. The first round resulted in a wonderful clear and hope for a good Dutch result. Unfortunately, Marc and Calimero and the rest of the team were unable to repeat this in the second round and eventually finished sixth.
On Sunday it was time for the most important Grand Prix of the year. Calimero appeared for the third time in a row in the Grand Prix of Aachen and performed again strongly. An early jumping fault prevented a possible repeat of his third place in 2017, but in the rest of this extremely difficult course our duo impressed and qualified for the second round (best 18). Their last performance of Aachen 2019 was a copy of the first round. An early fault by a fantastically jumping Calimero led him and Marc to 14th place in this absolute world-class field.
Sterrehof’s Edinus realised his best performance in the STAWAG Prize on Thursday. Two nice clear rounds brought him and Marc to thirteenth place, just outside the prize winners.
