Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z was very successful at the highest level with Julia Houtzager-Kayser. In 2020 he retired from the sport. At the end of 2023, Cayetano unexpectedly passed away but is still available for breeding!

Cayetano’s own sire is the proven stallion Caretano Z, one of the best Caretino sons in sport and breeding. Even more interesting is Cayetano’s dam Calipa Z. This mare by Cor de la Bryère produced eight international show jumpers, four of which jumped at 1.60m level, with Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z being the most successful one! Calipa is without a doubt the best broodmare out of the legendary Ratina Z, winner of Olympic team gold (2x) and individual silver with Piet Raijmakers and Ludger Beerbaum.

Sport results

Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z made his international debut as an 8yo. The very sound stallion jumped eight consecutive years at international level with rider Julia Houtzager-Kayser. The duo competed at the 2017 European Championship in Gothenburg and was, also for Austria, in 2016 and 2018 very successful in the FEI Nations Cup final in Barcelona. Cayetano and Julia achieved top positions in many Grands Prix at the highest level.

Offspring

The first years, the beautifully modelled Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z has mainly been used within Sterrehof’s own breeding program. Out of his first crop, -born in 2019 and consisting of only six offspring-, comes On My Mind (breeder/owner Willem Greve). At the 2022 KWPN Stallion Show this top talent was selected for the KWPN Performance Test. Based on the qualities of Cayetano and of his offspring, we are convinced of the value this future progenitor has to offer to jumping horse breeding. Therefore we made him fully available for breeding in 2021. At the end of 2023 he suddenly passed away but Cayetano can still be used for breeding.
