Sterrehof’s Calimero comes close to two clear rounds in the FEI Nations Cup
This year the FEI Nations Cup of the Netherlands was not scheduled in Rotterdam, but in Geesteren because of the coming European Championships in the harbour city. What stayed the same was the selection of Sterrehof’s Calimero and Marc for the Dutch team. Our four riders clinched a beautiful second place behind the winning Brazilians during the CHIO Twente. Calimero contributed strongly to this result. He opened his first Nation Cup of the season convincingly. A true display of powerful jumping brought one of the only four clears in the first round onto the scoreboard.
The second round was arguably even better, till the final jump. Calimero barely touched the pole and and when Marc already thought they had realised a clear it ruthlessly fell in slow motion on the ground… Next to this small disappointment, the feeling of a strong Calimero and Marc prevailed!
Winning Sterrehof’s Dante
Also Sterrehof’s Dante continues to astonish. The eleven-year-old mare jumped her first 1.60m class with Marc during the CHIO Twente Grand Prix. She certainly did a fine job and one day later it turned out she had even more to offer. During Saturday’s main class, a 1.50m against the clock, Dante and Marc staid clear and showed a scorching pace. They were able to keep the number two almost three seconds behind them. Dante’s victory came a week after her second place in the Championat of Villach and a month after her victory in the Grand Prix of Tubbergen.
Finally, Sterrehof’s Cayetano Z and Julia delivered a clear round in the Grand Prix, a result achieved by only seven other combinations. In the jump-off, won by Maikel van der Vleuten with Dana Blue, things didn’t go as plannedl, so they finished on eighth place.
