Sterrehof's Calimero and Marc 7th in GCT and 3rd in GCL
In 2016, Sterrehof’s Calimero and Marc had their breakthrough at the highest level during the Shanghai Global Champions Tour. A nine-year-old Calimero jumped to a beautiful third place in the Grand Prix. Now, three years later, our duo managed to add new successes to their record in the Chinese mega metropole.
On Saturday, the twelve-year-old Quidam de Revel son started with a flawless round in the first round of the Global Champions League (GCL) team competition. The Grand Prix qualification was in the pocket and our top horse performed superbly again during the GCT main class. Calimero even brought his A game in the first round and stayed convincingly clear. In the jump-off, Marc was flawless and quickly en route. A repetition of the 2016 result was in the air, until the final fence. Because of the long distance and his speed Calimero jumped slightly flat, after which a little rub made the rail fall mercilessly. At the end the effort was still rewarded with a nice seventh place in the Grand Prix.
Best result Prague Lions
That third place still followed a day later. Together with Niels Bruynseels (Delux van T&L), Marc and Calimero had already created a solid foundation on Saturday to reach a top result for their Prague Lions team in the GCL (photo). In the second round on Sunday both combinations had one jumping fault, but the result in this delicate round was sufficient for a fantastic third place during the GCL competition’s Shanghai stage. Marc, who has won the 2018 GCL final in Prague with Calimero and his team Madrid in Motion, now came into action for the first time during the 2019 season and ensured together with his Belgian colleague the best result for the Lions to date.
