Marc: 'He ends up at a right place'
Sterrehof’s Baccarat will no longer jump under the saddle of Marc. The twelve-year-old top gelding, which we owned together with the Houtzager-Kayser Stable, has been sold and will continue his career with a Mexican rider. Marc acknowledges that the sale of this top horse brings double feelings. He says about it: ‘Of course Baccarat is very useful next to Sterrehof’s Calimero and Sterrehof’s Edinus, but it’s also a fact that you cannot always keep all your horses and sometimes you have to sell. The new owner does not want to get his name published right now, but Baccarat will be ridden by a very good rider. I’m sure we will hear more from Baccarat. ‘
‘Just a very good horse’
Last six months Baccarat has shown that he is in the prime of his career. He was very successful at CSI Twente, he had a dream debut in the Dutch team at CHIO Aachen and he finished fifth in the Grand Prix of Münster. Marc: ‘Baccarat is just a very good horse. He was barely nine years old when he successfully jumped a five-star Grand Prix and he has been performing at the highest level for almost four years now. I had him together with Sterrehof Stud for six years and with such a horse you really develop a bond. Somewhere it’s a shame, but he goes to a super stable and a super rider. I’m confident that he ends up at a right place.’
