Sterrehof's Dante jumps to a brilliant victory in Münster Grand Prix
In an ultimately dominant fashion, Sterrehof’s Dante and Marc have won the Turnier der Sieger in Münster! After their memorable victory in Rotterdam, it was the second prestigious Grand Prix our 16-year-old mare managed to win this season. Added with Salzburg and Wiesbaden it was already her fourth Grand Prix in a period of fifteen months.
Fitting climax
Our top duo had to work hard for the win in the German ‘equestrian city’. After two difficult rounds, they were among the exclusive number of three combinations who made it to the jump-off. In this third and final round, a fitting climax followed thanks to a clear in 39.73 sec, more then 3.5 seconds faster than German rider Markus Renzel with his seven years younger Pikeur Lemar.
‘So deserved for Dante’
An excited Marc was very complimentary about Dante and also referred to Ivo and Ellen’s wedding anniversary. “This result is so deserved for Dante”, Marc said. “She jumped better and better every round. I didn’t even have to take all the risks in the jump-off, unlike in Rotterdam. Wonderful to do this on this great day for Ivo and Ellen!”
Management key to success
Besides the great talent of Dante, the fantastic management at the Houtzager-Kayser Stables forms the basis of all successes. That this is no coincidence, is also shown by the seventeen-year-old Sterrehof’s Calimero. Just like last weeks in Valkenswaard, he was at the front in one of the most important classes. On Saturday we could again note a fifth place for Calimero, this time in a 1.55m class, although there was also a scary moment when Marc and Calimero slipped away in the jump-off. Fortunately, rider and horse did not get seriously hurt and we also hope to hear more from this great duo later on this year.
